- E & t F in L Magazine's "8 NYC Bands To Hear"
- Emanuel And The Fear | June 02, 2009 07:45
- Emanuel and the Fear has proven time and again over the past few months since its new self-titled EP release that it is a band to pay attention to. Having already sold out 4 NYC shows in the past 4 months, being featured in Deli Magazine NYC as “Artist Of The Month”, an Editor’s Pick on Going.com several times not to mention coverage in Brooklyn Vegan, Paper Magazine, and New York Press, Emanuel and the Fear has now been featured in The L Magazine as one of “8 NYC Bands You Need To Hear”.
With this feature comes the honor of Emanuel and the Fear playing this year’s Northside Festival from June 11-14. While the date and set time is still TBD, Emanuel and the Fear will be playing alongside bands like Sunset Rubdown, Bishop Allen, The Dodos, Bill Callahan, The Van Pelt, Brightblack Morning Light, O’Death, Asobi Seksu, and John Vanderslice. Stay tuned as more bands and finalized times are announced!
- Darla Farmer on tour, May 23 - 30!
- Darla Farmer | May 18, 2009 16:38
- Members of the band have at last caught a moment away from their mundane day jobs of fire breathing, belly dancing, and palm reading to take the circus on the road! Set to play a short stint in a slew of the Northeast’s most notable indie-rock venues including NYC’s Mercury Lounge (5/23) and Pianos (5/28), Philadelphia’s World Café Live (5/30), and Boston’s TT The Bears (5/26), Darla Farmer is set to give all in attendance a hell of a show leading into Summer. Check the tour dates section for a complete listing of the dates!
- Watch Darla Farmer on Vancar.tv!
- Darla Farmer | May 18, 2009 16:36
- A short time ago, Darla Farmer joined forces with Magic Hat Brewing Company and Vancar.tv to put on a full-blown theatrical music show for the launching of Magic Hat’s Beer. Initially only viewable to the drunken crowd in attendance, Vancar.tv has now officially released the live HD footage of the show in all is glory.
While it is unclear whether or not lead singer Clint Wilson’s conductor hat is part of a Halloween costume or simply part of his regular attire, one thing is clear: the seven-piece act is tight, bold, and – well, deranged in all the right ways.
Many bands have creative visions, but few execute them live as well as Darla Farmer, and this is evidenced by Vancar.tv’s 16 minute long video. Darla Farmer exhibit some of the many potentials of their eclectic ensemble. The set has its moments of big band horn melodies, melancholy violin bridges, fuzz driven guitar breakdowns, and throaty screams.
The video will help expose new listeners to what many have already discovered: Darla Farmer is a demented circus act that is wildly entertaining. Check out the video for a satisfying sampling of what Darla Farmer has to offer!

- Peasant on national TV and NPR!
- Peasant | February 23, 2009 07:05
- With the release of "On the Ground" only a few weeks behind us, Peasant's talent is reaching the masses on a national scale.
To kick things off, ABC Family’s “Kyle XY” show (2.6 million viewers) featured placement for not one, but two of Peasant’s songs from his album, “On The Ground”.
The following week only got stronger for Peasant, though, with a feature in NPR’s Second Stage (26 million+ viewers) on Friday, 2/9.
And last but definitely not least, Peasant’s “Fine Is Fine” song was also featured on an episode of Showtime’s new “United States of Tara” program (2.5 million viewers).

- Emanuel and the Fear...this is just the beginning!
- Emanuel And The Fear | February 23, 2009 06:55
- At its core, Emanuel and the Fear is the experimental result of fusing eleven classically-trained musicians with up-tempo NYC-centric dance rock and a dash of Everclear. With the band’s EP release just barely behind us (Feb. 17th) Emanuel and the Fear is finally able to prove to the rest of the world just what it is capable of through a unique collection of musical diversity.
With two solid shows in the past month at Bowery Poetry Club and Webster Hall, Emanuel and the Fear is only warming up as Spring draws near.
The band recently played at Union Hall (Feb. 11th) in Brooklyn w/ Matt Jones and Roman Candle for the Park Slope crowd. Ten days later, Emanuel the Fear headed back into the city for perhaps its biggest show yet at Mercury Lounge (February 21st). Every song whether it’s an electro-dance song, a horn-based orchestra piece, or an acoustic ballad, is played with enough passion and energy to tear one’s soul apart.
With their digital EP just recently released and a show secured in April with the New Pornographers, Emanuel and the Fear are just getting started.
- "Rewiring The Electric Forest," out now!
- Darla Farmer | February 23, 2009 05:49
- Chaos, beauty, clusterf*ck, harmony, eccentricity and splendor are all words that have been used to describe the music of rising Nashville Carnival-rock outfit, Darla Farmer.
As a band who initially drew its crowd from college-aged stoners, Darla Farmer quickly gained acceptance and excitement amongst an exceptionally diverse crowd. Frat boys, hobos, hipsters, milk maids, band nerds and bearded ladies alike all quickly came to love and relate to the spectacle that is Darla Farmer.
Paper Garden Records is proud to announce the release of Darla Farmer’s “Rewiring The Electric Forest” album on February 17th. Be on the lookout for the full remix version of the album coming soon as well, entitled “Remixing The Electric Forest”.

- January 29, 2009 08:50

This partnership with the label founded by Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst and manager Nathaniel Krenkel not only allows PGR to broaden its reach into retail stores nationwide, but also opens up the floodgates to a slew of new cross-promotional, marketing, and tour opportunities.
Starting out the year with a strong national release of Peasant’s debut album, “On The Ground” (out 1/27/09), Paper Garden Records has a full schedule for ’09, releasing a brand new 7-inch vinyl for Peasant’s single, “The End”, followed quickly by the full release of Darla Farmer’s “Rewiring The Electric Forest” LP (out 2/17/09), Emanuel and the Fear’s self-titled EP (out digitally 2/17/09), and Darla Farmer’s “Remixing The Electric Forest” remix album. And that’s just the first harvest!

- Darla Farmer | December 07, 2008 11:25
- Our very own Darla Farmer, Nashville's favorite carnival-rock band, has just announced that they're launching a full album remix competition around their debut album, "Rewiring The Electric Forest"!
The band recorded their album in Omaha, NE this summer around Saddle-Creekers such as Cursive, The Faint, Maria Taylor and more, so for those of you that want to have your remix abilities heard, now is the time! The remix album, which will be titled, "Remixing The Electric Forest" will be digitally released this summer!
Paper Garden is now opening the floor for submissions and would love to hear what you can do with the album! We're looking for the most diverse and creative remix compilation album, so if you manage to make one of the songs sound like something from Celine Dion, not only will you be disqualified, but also most likely personally insulted (sorry Canada!). The good news, though, is if you manage to create the kick-ass remix that we're looking for, your remix will not only mark your certain road to endless success, but will also be marketed everywhere with your name attached!
Please check out the band here and at www.myspace.com/darlafarmer. Let Bryan know if you are interested in submitting a remix by emailing him at bryan@papergardenrecords.com. Submit as many remixes for consideration as you like!

A few short months ago, Peasant was given the great privilege of playing and recording for one of the most exclusive sessions that independent music knows. And now the results of that dream have just gone live and are available for all to hear and see! Daytrotter, who is known for having helped launch and provide a creative new media outlet for emerging indie-rock bands such as Death Cab For Cutie, Of Montreal, Vampire Weekend, Tokyo Police Club, Spoon, and A Place To Bury Strangers (just to name a few) recorded 4 of the best Peasant songs, 2 of which are brand new and unreleased in any other form. Check out Peasant's exclusive Daytrotter mp3's here: http://daytrotter.com/article/1507/peasant.
Peasant also kicked off his current tour by heading to Clifton, NJ to a remote studio to record a few live tracks as well as an exclusive interview with the innovative new company, JamNow. Check it out at Jamnow.com/peasant!
These sessions align themselves perfectly with Peasant's current tour (full tour dates in "bands">"Peasant">"tour dates") and upcoming WOXY session, all leading into the official re-launch of Peasant's album, "On The Ground", out in late January with Team Love helping out with marketing and distribution.
